The European Space Agency Builds a Private Cloud Platform with Red Hat

The European Space Agency needed a more flexible and reliable way to deliver 24x7 advanced IT services to technical and scientific users across Europe, while meeting strict SLAs and avoiding the limits of its legacy physical infrastructure. It turned to Red Hat, using Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Consulting as part of its new on-premise private cloud platform.

With Red Hat, ESA built its ESA cloud in the Frascati datacentre, enabling on-demand provisioning of complex virtual environments in minutes instead of months. The result was higher service levels, lower costs, better performance, and more effective management, including real-time resource monitoring and simpler chargeback; ESA was so pleased that it began finalizing a similar Red Hat-based infrastructure for another datacentre.
