Tata Sky Reduces TCO by 75% Replacing Proprietary Middleware with Red Hat Jboss Middleware

Tata Sky, a satellite TV and interactive services provider, needed a more sustainable way to support its critical Electronic Voucher Distribution application as its proprietary middleware reached end-of-life and became too costly to maintain. Tata Sky turned to Red Hat, using Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux to replace the legacy stack while keeping the system scalable and flexible.

Red Hat implemented the migration in four months with support from Red Hat Consulting, and the transition caused no disruption to operations. The result was a 75% reduction in total cost of ownership, a 90% drop in licensing and maintenance fees, better performance, and improved transaction turnaround, helping Tata Sky lower database cores from 120 to 30.
