Systemlink Builds IoT Energy Conservation App with Red Hat

Systemlink Limited, a Dublin-based manufacturer of heating systems, wanted to create an IoT-ready mobile app that would let homeowners monitor and control hot water and energy use, but it lacked an in-house app development team. It turned to Red Hat and Red Hat Mobile Application Platform to build a solution that could connect a smartphone app with its home heating hardware.

Red Hat implemented an HTML5 app for Android and Apple devices, plus a custom cloud API and MBaaS integration to link the app with Systemlink’s controllers and databases. The result was a simpler, more flexible and scalable system that reduced management overhead, improved the user experience, and helped customers cut energy and water waste—supporting a potential ROI in as little as 12 months, down from 36 months.
