Roche IT delivers pharmaceutical apps faster

Roche, the healthcare pharma and diagnostics company, needed to modernize its middleware platform at its Pharma Informatics Madrid IT Centre of Excellence to reduce time-to-market, improve operations, and avoid vendor dependency while supporting a large global infrastructure. The team evaluated multiple options and chose Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, along with other Red Hat technologies, to create a more flexible, open source-based environment.

With Red Hat, Roche standardized and automated application deployment and monitoring across global datacenters, using solutions such as Red Hat Network Satellite and Red Hat JBoss Operations Network. The results were significant: deployment times dropped from weeks to days, developers could support about 100 applications per middleware administrator, and Roche improved flexibility, scalability, and total cost of ownership while maintaining a stable platform.
