Repsol Meets Demands of Competitive Oil Market with Red Hat

Repsol, Spain’s largest oil company, needed to replace its costly, inflexible proprietary UNIX environment with a more agile and cost-effective platform to run critical SAP applications across its global operations. To meet the demands of the volatile oil and gas market, Repsol chose Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Applications, supported by Red Hat Satellite, to modernize its infrastructure.

With Red Hat, Repsol migrated its SAP environment to commodity x86 servers, gaining higher availability, easier management, and more flexibility across development, integration, application, and production systems. Red Hat helped Repsol cut hardware and software costs by about 80%, reduce planned downtime, and improve system response times by 10%–15%, while also reducing vendor lock-in.
