Railinc, a North American freight rail IT and data services provider, needed to modernize business rules and process workflows that were buried in application code and slowing responses to customer requests. The complexity reduced agility, made updates harder, and limited knowledge sharing across developers, analysts, and customers. To address this, Railinc turned to Red Hat and its Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite.

With Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite, Railinc modernized business rules management and process workflows, enabling faster issue research, clearer documentation, and better collaboration. The company projected a 34% reduction in application errors and time to resolution, plus cuts of 13% in initial development costs, 41% in business rules change costs, and 28% in workflow change costs. Railinc also expected to apply the approach to 30 applications, or about half its portfolio, improving agility and operational efficiency.
