Profit Software, a Finnish leader in web-based insurance, banking, and financing software, was struggling with separate development environments across three locations. The lack of a unified setup created inefficiencies in environment maintenance, resource use, remote access, and time spent provisioning testing systems. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization were chosen to help standardize and virtualize the development environment.

Red Hat implemented Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization to create a shared, scalable development platform that could support both Linux desktops and servers. The result was a dramatic reduction in environment build time from one day to one hour, improved programmer productivity, easier remote access, and better operational efficiency. Profit Software said the solution was positively impacting revenue and planned to migrate more VMware-based systems to Red Hat.
