Posco Ict Builds Intelligent Factory with Open Source I.T. From Red Hat

POSCO ICT, an IT and engineering services provider supporting its steel-industry parent company, needed a cost-effective way to build an intelligent factory that could use IoT sensor data to monitor and control operations, improve quality, and create a stable, future-ready IT foundation. To address these challenges, POSCO ICT turned to Red Hat and its open source software, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Virtualization, and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.

Red Hat helped POSCO ICT deploy a scalable, stable smart-factory environment that supports real-time data collection, predictive analysis, and better data standardization. The results were significant: POSCO ICT reduced operating system costs by more than 10x versus UNIX and saved about 40–50% on middleware and virtualization compared with proprietary solutions, while also improving collaboration and building stronger internal open source skills.
