A Red Hat Case Study
POSCO ICT, an IT service provider in Korea, faced a highly complex and costly infrastructure built on multiple operating systems and small systems that struggled to keep up with changing business demands. To simplify and modernize its environment, POSCO ICT evaluated options including Red Hat and selected Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the High-Availability Add-on for its migration to Intel Xeon processor-based servers.
Red Hat helped POSCO ICT replace legacy UNIX and physical systems with a Linux-based, virtualized infrastructure supported by technical account management and consulting services. The result was a core platform running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux across about 400 physical servers and 200 to 300 virtual machines, delivering lower TCO, easier maintenance, improved agility, stronger stability, and successful datacenter relocation without major incident.
