A Red Hat Case Study
Nissan Motor Corporation needed a more flexible way to optimize production planning and vehicle distribution for its new Brazil plant, where local buying behavior differed from Japan and dealership stock had to be allocated more intelligently. To support this global expansion, Nissan turned to Red Hat JBoss BRMS and Red Hat Consulting as part of a broader open, scalable core system.
Red Hat helped Nissan implement a business rules-based solution for order-to-delivery planning, production constraints, and dealership allocation. The result was a 200% productivity improvement, greater transparency into business processes, and a five-year TCO projection cut in half. With Red Hat’s support, Nissan also reduced processing time from 6.5 hours to about two minutes for eight months of production plans, creating a system more than 10 times faster than in Japan.
