A Red Hat Case Study
Mass Open Cloud, a nonprofit cloud initiative supporting universities, government organizations, and businesses in Massachusetts, needed a reliable, cost-effective, and highly scalable storage foundation for its public and private clouds and growing big data workloads. Its small IT team also needed expert guidance to deploy and manage the environment efficiently, and it turned to Red Hat for help, using Red Hat OpenStack Platform as part of the foundation.
Red Hat implemented Red Hat Ceph Storage, along with Red Hat Technical Account Management, Red Hat Training, and Red Hat Consulting, to build a high-performance open source storage platform on industry-standard hardware. The result was three storage clusters totaling 731TB across production, research, and testing environments, improved reliability and rapid recovery from failures, easier administration and tuning, and lower IT costs compared with high-end storage alternatives.
