A Red Hat Case Study
KT Corporation, South Korea’s largest telecommunications company, was struggling with rising maintenance costs, performance issues, and vendor lock-in across its legacy IT environment. To address this, KT worked with Red Hat and its subsidiary kt ds to replace proprietary software with open source technology, using products such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.
Red Hat helped KT standardize its IT architecture and migrate more than 50 systems, including customer-facing services, onto open source platforms. The results were significant: KT reduced five-year total cost of ownership by 89%, improved application development and operational efficiency, and achieved better performance and reliability, including faster boot times and higher transaction throughput for key services.
