A Red Hat Case Study
ING-DiBa AG, Germany’s largest direct bank, needed a more scalable, highly available middleware platform to support rapid customer growth, improve process agility, and control costs across its mission-critical banking systems. Its legacy proprietary middleware had become complex and expensive to maintain, and the bank wanted enterprise-level support without sacrificing its in-house Java EE expertise. Red Hat’s JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and Red Hat Consulting were selected to replace the old stack.
Red Hat helped ING-DiBa migrate from proprietary middleware on Sun Solaris to a virtualized x86 environment on JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. The new platform delivered 50% lower maintenance costs, cut application deployment time from about 40 minutes to 20 minutes, and reduced RAM, storage, and backup needs by making better use of hardware. Red Hat also enabled a future-proof, automated IT foundation that supported ING-DiBa’s IT industrialisation strategy.
