A Red Hat Case Study
Herzog Technologies, a rail signal and communications leader, needed a cost-effective way to help smaller railroads implement federally mandated positive train control (PTC) technology without the high expense and complexity of traditional deployments. Using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat Consulting, Herzog set out to build a hosted cloud solution that could scale efficiently and support faster onboarding.
With Red Hat, Herzog created a private-cloud PTC platform that automated provisioning, improved lifecycle management, and simplified compliance across its hybrid environment. Red Hat helped Herzog launch the first hosted PTC solution in the market, reduce deployment time and IT administration costs, and create a new revenue stream, while giving the company a stronger competitive position in the railroad industry.
