Gulf Air’s Big Data Innovation Delivers Deeper Customer Insight

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, needed a better way to monitor and analyze huge volumes of social media posts to understand customer sentiment in Arabic and English, identify service issues, and respond faster to market trends. Manual monitoring was too time-consuming and error-prone, so the airline turned to an internally developed big data initiative supported by Red Hat technologies.

Using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, Red Hat Storage, and Red Hat Satellite in its private cloud, Gulf Air implemented its Arabic Sentiment Analysis solution. The result was sentiment insights from hundreds of thousands of posts in minutes, about 84% analysis accuracy, improved customer satisfaction, faster reactions to competitor promotions, and a highly cost-effective deployment with no new hardware investment.
