Case Study: Province of British Columbia achieves faster, more collaborative government services with Red Hat

A Red Hat Case Study

Preview of the Province of British Columbia Case Study

Government of British Columbia Improves Services with Open Source

The Province of British Columbia needed to speed up and simplify the delivery of digital public services, but its fragmented datacenter infrastructure made basic server access slow and difficult, delaying projects by months. To improve user experience while maintaining strong security and compliance, the province turned to Red Hat and used products including Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat Gluster Storage, Red Hat JBoss Fuse, and Red Hat Consulting.

Red Hat helped the Province of British Columbia build an open source, DevOps-driven foundation for the BC Developers’ Exchange, enabling collaboration with private-sector developers and faster deployment across government teams. The results included reducing virtual server wait times from three months to less than a day and launching a school bus inspection tracking service in just eight weeks instead of the previous 8–12 month proof-of-concept cycle, while also improving governance and security.
