A Red Hat Case Study
Glashart Media, a Dutch radio and television service provider, needed a scalable, redundant storage platform to support rapidly growing video-on-demand and planned network PVR services. Its existing in-house storage could not grow or support NextPVR, so it turned to Red Hat and Red Hat Gluster Storage for a more flexible and cost-effective solution.
Red Hat implemented Red Hat Gluster Storage to deliver scale-out file and object storage with high availability and easier management. The result was an 8-fold reduction in storage costs compared with EMC, plus greater flexibility, scalability, and redundancy; Glashart Media also gained the capacity to record all 256 TV channels around the clock and support 3,000 live NPVR customers, with room to expand to another 100,000 users.
