Case Study: Genfare achieves a scalable IoT fare management platform with Red Hat

A Red Hat Case Study

Preview of the Genfare Case Study

Genfare quickly evolves from hardware to software with Red Hat

Genfare, a transit payment solutions provider, needed to move beyond its legacy hardware image and deliver more modern, software-driven fare management capabilities such as mobile payments, real-time analytics, and better reporting. Working with Red Hat, the company used Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat JBoss Fuse, Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, and Red Hat Consulting to create Genfare Link, a cloud-based IoT platform for fare management.

Red Hat helped Genfare design and implement a scalable multiregion AWS architecture and integrate the software stack, enabling remote updates, real-time device monitoring, and web-based management for transit agencies. The result was improved reliability and high availability, faster service delivery, lower support costs, and a new SaaS revenue model, while Genfare now processes more than 3 billion transactions annually and can scale to serve many more customers.
