ETH Zurich chooses Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Satellite

ETH Zurich, a leading international university with a decentralized IT environment across 16 departments, needed to consolidate its server and client infrastructure to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and better support research and teaching. The university turned to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Satellite to manage its growing, heterogeneous environment more effectively.

Red Hat implemented Red Hat Satellite alongside Red Hat Enterprise Linux to centralize system management, automate deployments, and delegate administrative tasks without losing departmental flexibility. The result was significantly reduced administrative effort, faster and higher-quality software distribution, and a scalable platform that now manages more than 1,700 Red Hat Enterprise Linux clients while supporting hundreds of servers across ETH Zurich’s IT services.
