Essar Implements Global Hr Portal with Red Hat Solution

Essar Group, a global energy conglomerate with 73,000+ employees, needed an enterprise-class web server platform for its Myequations global HR portal. Its challenge was to provide secure access to personal and sensitive employee data across multiple countries while meeting the UK Data Protection Act 1998, all with a solution that was easy to configure and manage. Red Hat JBoss Web Server was selected to replace the community Apache web server.

Red Hat implemented secure HTTPS access and data encryption for the portal, while ensuring the solution fit Essar’s SAP-based architecture with an Oracle backend. The rollout was completed smoothly in about a month, with no disruption to operations. As a result, Essar achieved secure and compliant access to employee data, simplified administration, and a robust, thoroughly tested platform that supports lower long-term IT costs.
