Discovery, the South African insurance and wellness company behind the Vitality program, needed a more flexible and cost-effective way to expand its global platform, handle growing user data, and meet a tight deadline for a U.S. launch. Its legacy system was difficult to scale, expensive to extend, and hard to support across partners and regions, so Discovery looked for an enterprise-ready container and cloud platform.

Discovery worked with Red Hat Consulting and partner LSD Information Technology to build Vitality One on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. With Red Hat, the company accelerated deployment, improved security and reliability, and enabled faster microservices-based development; the new platform has had zero downtime since launch and cut partner platform costs by 85%, while also reducing infrastructure footprint by 50%.
