Cisco improves software and product development with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

Cisco, a global networking leader, needed to speed up software and product development as customer demands changed and its “Fast IT” initiative pushed the company from waterfall development to DevOps. Working with Red Hat and using OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat, Cisco also had to replace a slow, manual middleware request process that could take months to provision for internal developers.

Red Hat helped Cisco build its Lightweight Application Environment on OpenShift Enterprise, creating a self-service portal where developers can quickly order infrastructure, middleware, and tools on demand, often in as little as 15 minutes. The result was faster time to market, a streamlined container-based infrastructure, higher operational efficiency, and a better developer experience, including reduced service requests, improved application density on fewer servers, and automated scaling across Cisco’s private cloud.
