Chunghwa Telecom Creates Open Source Roadmap with Red Hat

Chunghwa Telecom Billing Information Laboratory, part of Chunghwa Telecom, needed a smarter, more cost-effective way to modernize its billing and order management systems amid IT budget cuts. Using Red Hat’s enterprise-ready open source solutions, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat JBoss Middleware, the team set out to reduce costs while maintaining performance and support quality.

Red Hat implemented an open source roadmap that re-engineered and integrated Chunghwa Telecom’s legacy and new systems on a lightweight, scalable platform. With Red Hat Consulting and Red Hat Training, Chunghwa Telecom expects to cut software costs by more than 50% over five years, while also improving flexibility, reducing vendor lock-in, and building in-house open source expertise.
