A Red Hat Case Study

Preview of the KBS Case Study

Broadcaster reaches global audience faster using a private cloud

KBS, one of Korea’s largest broadcasting organizations, needed to replace a slow, tape-based subtitle and video production workflow for KBS World with a more digital, flexible system. The company chose Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform to build an OpenStack private cloud that could better support multilingual subtitling, editing, and content transmission.

With help from Red Hat, KBS implemented a cloud-based archive and content management system that enabled online access for more than 50 users and simplified production and broadcast operations. Red Hat’s solution cut production time by 50%, reduced total cost of ownership by more than 40%, and is expected to save KBS over ₩700 million annually while improving ROI by more than 50%.
