A Red Hat Case Study
The British Army’s Information Application Services (IAS) Branch needed to improve the reliability and speed of its IT service delivery after experiencing support, performance, compatibility, and unplanned downtime issues in its Oracle-based private cloud. To address these challenges, the British Army turned to Red Hat, using Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ansible Tower by Red Hat to modernize and automate its hosting environment.
Red Hat implemented a more automated, standardized management approach that streamlined patching, configuration updates, and service control across development, test, preproduction, and production environments. As a result, the British Army cut change delivery time by 75%, reduced upgrade windows from a full day to under two hours, and shortened emergency patching from about three days to just three or four hours, while eliminating unplanned downtime and reducing errors.
