Baloise Bank Soba Migrates Core Banking Application to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Baloise Bank SoBa, a Swiss financial services provider, needed to cut operating costs and overcome the complexity and performance limits of its legacy proprietary UNIX environment for the Avaloq core banking application. The bank turned to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Satellite to create a more modern, cost-effective platform that could better support changing regulatory and business demands.

Red Hat implemented the migration on three HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 x86 servers, and the project was completed on budget and on schedule in three months. The new environment improved batch-processing performance by up to four times, reduced TCO by around CHF 240,000 per year, and is expected to deliver full ROI within 18 months. Red Hat Satellite also simplified centralized management and updates.
