A Red Hat Case Study
Asahi Tekko Co., Ltd., a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer, needed to improve just-in-time production efficiency without expanding its factory footprint. Manual machine data collection was slow and error-prone, making it difficult to track quality, downtime, and productivity, so the company turned to Red Hat and its open source enterprise software, including Red Hat Decision Manager, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.
With help from Red Hat Consulting, Asahi Tekko implemented an IoT-based cycle time monitoring system that automated data collection and delivered real-time production insight. The solution was deployed in six months and helped reduce overwork by 10 hours per day, cut capital expenditure by an estimated ¥300 million, and lower labor costs by more than ¥100 million annually, while also enabling a new SaaS business model and improved DevOps collaboration.
