APG improves cost and flexibility by switching to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

APG, one of the world’s largest pension fund administrators, needed a more flexible, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure than its existing AIX environment could provide. The company worked with Red Hat and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, along with related tools like Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Directory Server, to support mission-critical pension operations and reduce vendor lock-in.

Red Hat helped APG migrate fully to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, enabling better continuity, faster deployment of security updates, and support for high-availability systems for core applications like Murex MX.3. The move lowered costs by eliminating expensive licenses and using less costly hardware; APG estimated AIX would cost three times more than Red Hat Enterprise Linux, while administration time also decreased thanks to the platform’s structured design.
