Build It Green Embraces Pay For Performance

Build It Green (BIG), an Oakland-based environmental nonprofit, wanted to move beyond business as usual and launch a pay-for-performance energy efficiency program that could manage performance risk, improve customer targeting, and ensure quality installation. To support this effort, BIG worked with Recurve and used Recurve’s OpenEEmeter analysis and Share my Data Green Button connection to better understand past project performance and access customer usage data.

Recurve helped BIG analyze historical retrofit results at the meter, identify high- and low-performing projects, and sharpen customer qualification so BIG could secure a performance insurance contract and focus on high-value homes. With Recurve’s portal providing near real-time consumption data within 24 hours, BIG improved modeling accuracy, contractor feedback, and savings tracking, enabling more confident program delivery and stronger value for customers, the grid, and the climate.
