Before partnering with Recurly, PupBox’s previous billing provider forced upfront payment for multi‑month plans, creating a high price barrier that pushed customers toward short‑term subscriptions and drove high churn.

Recurly introduced flexible subterms, monthly billing for 3/6/12‑month plans, a promotion engine and multiple‑gateway support, letting PupBox offer lower monthly rates and first‑box discounts on longer commitments. The switch doubled new subscriber acquisition in a month, improved retention and LTV, enabled more efficient marketing spend, and added payment continuity through better dunning and gateway failover.
