Railway Data Communication System meets 10ms EN 50155 hold-up with RECOM Power

The customer, a railway data communication system, required a power converter that could meet the stringent EN 50155 S2 standard, which mandates a 10ms hold-up time during a complete input voltage interruption. They also needed the solution to operate across a wide range of train DC systems and meet reinforced isolation safety standards. They contacted vendor RECOM Power for a solution.

RECOM Power provided a semi-custom 100W converter that was specifically tailored to meet the challenge. The solution delivered 100ms of operation down to a low input voltage and included a circuit to easily achieve the required 10ms hold-up time, all while being qualified for EN 62368 reinforced isolation. The product's design also allows for a future upgrade to a pin-compatible 200W version from the same series.
