A RECOM Power Case Study
An EV power design manager at an anonymized electric vehicle maker faced significant challenges in creating a scalable and cost-effective power architecture. They needed to support diverse, growing loads with varying isolation and voltage requirements, adhere to strict automotive standards, and maintain a leverageable design roadmap under intense cost pressure. RECOM Power provided a portfolio of modular power components and reference designs to address these integration and scalability gaps.
RECOM implemented a tailored solution using their COTS power modules, including the R1SX-3.305/H for isolated CAN bus power and the RPMB-3.0 and RPX-1.5Q for non-isolated upstream conversion. They also introduced the programmable R24C2T25S universal isolated gate driver to simplify support for multiple power switch types. This modular approach from RECOM allowed the customer to streamline design, accelerate deployment, and achieve a more cost-effective, space-efficient, and future-proof power subsystem.
