A Recite Me Case Study
Gateshead Council, the local authority serving a diverse population of over 200,000, needed to ensure its website (www.gateshead.gov.uk) met legal accessibility obligations and was usable by a wider range of residents and businesses. To achieve this, Gateshead Council turned to Recite Me for an accessibility solution.
Recite Me provided a simple-to-deploy accessibility toolbar (installed by adding a single line of code) that offers text-to-speech, high-contrast colour schemes, text enlargement, dictionary definitions and dyslexia-friendly views such as plain text and varied contrast. The Recite Me implementation made the site more accessible and compliant with government regulations, improved usability for diverse users, and was praised by Gateshead Council staff for its features and easy installation.
