Bioengineering firm Synlogic reimagines a better way to welcome visitors

Synlogic, a Cambridge-based bioengineering firm that develops “living Synthetic Biotic™ medicines,” faced a front-desk challenge: they receive many daily visitors but wanted to reassign their receptionist to other duties while keeping visitors welcomed and managed efficiently. In early 2018 Synlogic installed The Receptionist for iPad from The Receptionist to automate check-ins and modernize the visitor experience.

The Receptionist implemented a customizable, button-based check-in workflow that alerts hosts via email, text, and Slack and keeps a record of visits. As a result, Synlogic was able to reassign the receptionist to other tasks, run the front desk autonomously, and achieve near-instant notifications and faster guest handling — improving convenience for visitors and staff alike.
