The results were significant; the district increased middle school decoding proficiency by 37 percentage points in one semester, with one cohort rising from 3.7% to 40.7% meeting expectations. By midyear, 40% of students in a high school cohort met strong decoding benchmarks after starting the year significantly below expectations.
