A Reality Defender Case Study
Canadian Government Company — representing a senior Canadian government official now in the private sector — faced a rapid social media smear when four short videos surfaced purporting to show the official and an associate mocking Indigenous Canadians. Because the official is a public figure with plentiful public audio/video, they suspected the clips were created with generative/deepfake techniques and engaged Reality Defender to analyze the media using its deepfake-detection platform.
Reality Defender granted access to its web application and ensemble of detection models, which return probability scores (1–99) for audio and video authenticity. All four videos and their audio tracks scored highly for being falsified, allowing the Canadian Government Company to export PDF/CSV reports, rebut press coverage, and prompt verification from tier‑one media (including interviews with Reality Defender CEO Ben Colman). The measurable outcome was clear: four video/audio items flagged as highly likely deepfakes, giving the client documented evidence to counter the misinformation and support ongoing defenses against future attacks.
