LA Sanitation and Environment keeps 73+ customers engaged with Ready Artwork

The City of Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) faced the challenge of implementing California’s SB 1383 ordinance, which requires various businesses to donate surplus edible food. They needed a clear way to explain these obligations across a wide range of business types, train their field inspectors, and provide food recovery organizations with a reliable method for logging donations. Ready Artwork was engaged as a design and educational outreach partner to create practical, bilingual materials.

Ready Artwork delivered a comprehensive system of inspection, outreach, and reporting materials. This included a detailed program manual for inspectors, bilingual public-facing brochures and flyers, a branded presentation folder, and a Certificate of Recognition. The solution provided by Ready Artwork gave LASAN’s field staff a consistent reference and tools to use during site visits, helping to bring edible food generators across Los Angeles into compliance while framing it as a positive community contribution. The materials were kept current through several rounds of updates as guidance from the City and CalRecycle evolved.
