How OneTrust uses ReadMe to scale their API documentation and workflows

OneTrust, a data security and compliance company founded in 2016, needed an API documentation platform that could keep pace with its rapid growth and large internal user base. With more than 14,000 customers globally and over 200 employees producing content in ReadMe, the team needed a secure solution that could support different identity providers, multiple workflows, and a wide range of technical and non-technical users.

OneTrust implemented ReadMe to connect technical writing and development workflows, including Jenkins automation, Bitbucket, SSO, and a CLI for technical teams. The platform also gave writers a rich text editor, Suggested Edits, search visibility, and Recipes for reusable workflows. Josue Negron said the switch to ReadMe was a “night and day difference” for customer satisfaction, and the team was on track to support over 50,000 external customer developers by the end of 2024.
