World’s Most Successful Remote Identity Verification Immigration Programme

WorldReach Software partnered with the UK Home Office to support the EU Settlement Scheme, a large-scale immigration programme that needed a simple, secure way for around four million EEA nationals to verify their identity and complete their applications digitally. The challenge was to make remote onboarding easy while still meeting government-grade identity assurance requirements, using technologies such as NFC-enabled passport chip reading and mobile selfie matching.

ReadID provided the identity verification capability within WorldReach Software’s end-to-end digital application channel, enabling ePassport chip authentication, secure facial matching, and support for ePassports, UK biometric residence cards, and EU eID cards. The results were significant: more than 6 million applications were successfully concluded, many in under 10 minutes, system availability reached 99.97%, the service scaled to 25,000–30,000 applications per day, and 79% of users said the identity step was “very easy” or “fairly easy.”
