ReadID empowers uNLock pilot offering perspective to the event industry

uNLock foundation worked with ReadID to help make events safer during the COVID-19 period. Their challenge was to enable access to concerts and sports events with a privacy-friendly way to verify negative test results while preventing fraud and keeping attendee data under the user’s control.

ReadID provided identity verification technology, used through Rabobank’s IDA app in the uNLock process, to link a COVID-19 test result to a person’s verified identity and store it in a personal data safe on the phone. The solution allowed organizers to validate test results in real time using the photo from the identity document chip, and the pilot was carried out successfully in December 2020, with real events following in February 2021.
