A Razorfish Case Study
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Australia's national museum of film and digital culture, sought to redefine the modern museum experience with a $40M renewal project. Their challenge was to create an interactive and immersive environment that placed visitors at the heart of the experience. They partnered with the vendor Razorfish to lead this experience and exhibition renewal.
Razorfish collaborated with architects to design a new centerpiece exhibition and integrated a proprietary eXperience Operating System (XOS) to connect physical and digital content. A key feature was the handheld "Lens" device, which allowed visitors to interact with exhibits and collect content. This solution by Razorfish was highly successful, generating significant media attention and 24 million impressions. The renewed ACMI saw 49,000 visits and attracted 54% new visitors to its cinemas, fully immersing people in moving image history.
