The University of Zurich, a major research university and the largest in Switzerland, faced the challenge of creating a complete and compliant hardware and software inventory of its decentralized IT infrastructure to prepare for a Microsoft license survey. The vendor Raynet, working with partners, was engaged to provide a solution using its Raynet One product to achieve full transparency.

Raynet implemented its Raynet One solution, which utilized both agentless and agent-based scanning methods to inventory all devices, including those not permanently on the network or in isolated environments. This approach successfully captured the entire decentralized infrastructure. The project was completed in a short timeframe with high-quality results, achieving the university's goal of compliance and full transparency for the audit.
