StarNet - Customer Case Study

StarNet, a Domain‑Driven Design firm focused on sports betting and RNG casino games, was struggling with rising mobile traffic, changing tax/regulatory requirements, and the need to deliver new features rapidly. Their legacy SQL Server schema made on‑the‑fly changes and fast scaling during traffic surges (e.g., major tournaments) impractical, so they evaluated NoSQL options and chose RavenDB as the database component for their new architecture.

StarNet re‑architected to an eventually consistent microservice design (event sourcing/CQRS) using RavenDB for the read model and event store. RavenDB provided ACID multi‑document transactions, fast optimistic concurrency, easy tuning with negligible downtime, seamless .NET and container support, and simple data transfer to SQL Server. The result was faster feature delivery, improved performance at scale, reduced operational complexity, and a platform able to support and expand to thousands of concurrent devices and users.
