University of Central Florida Amplifies Safety Measures with SMS Opt-In

The University of Central Florida, a sprawling campus of more than 68,000 students across 1,415 acres and home to a 45,000‑seat stadium, needed a reliable way to notify temporary visitors, vendors and off‑duty first responders during high‑risk events and game days. UCF partnered with Rave Mobile Safety and deployed the Rave Alert mass notification system, using the SMS Opt‑In feature to reach people who aren’t in the university’s permanent database.

Rave Mobile Safety’s SMS Opt‑In lets outside law enforcement, fire rescue personnel and other temporary populations enroll by texting a keyword to a short code, receive targeted, timely alerts (for example missing‑person or police activity notifications) and have their enrollment automatically expire after the event. Integrated into UCF’s Rave Alert deployment (roughly 78,000 users), the solution supports the 80‑member police force plus 150–200 additional officers on game days and provides an extra layer of protection without adding temporary contacts to the campus database.
