Syracuse University Enhances Campus Safety Through “Seamless Integration” with the Rave Platform

Syracuse University, a 721‑acre campus serving more than 22,000 students, 1,800+ faculty and 5,500+ staff, faced budget constraints and the need to strengthen emergency communications. To simplify safety communications and reduce costs, the university—already using a custom‑branded Rave Alert system called Orange Alert since 2011—rolled out Rave Guardian from Rave Mobile Safety in February 2021 as its personal safety app.

Rave Mobile Safety integrated Rave Guardian with Syracuse’s Orange Alert platform to create a one‑stop safety system that supports push notifications, emergency call buttons, two‑way anonymous tips with photos/locations, virtual safety timers and multi‑channel mass notifications. The integration eliminated duplicate work, delivered faster, templated alerts (including COVID testing, isolation and quarantine notices), improved coordination among public safety, health and housing teams, and produced measurable reach across the campus community while saving the university money.
