San Juan County, New Mexico - Customer Case Study

San Juan County, New Mexico faced a critical challenge after the December 2017 Aztec High School shooting revealed gaps in school-to-dispatch communication and slow relay of information from classrooms to 9-1-1. Sheriff Shane Ferrari and county leaders sought a technology solution to reduce the time between an incident being reported and first responders arriving, and selected Rave Mobile Safety’s Rave Panic Button (with Rave 911 Suite analytics) to address those needs.

Rave Mobile Safety deployed the Rave Panic Button app across the district, giving staff smartphone-accessible panic buttons that are geo-fenced to school grounds and simultaneously notify school personnel, 9-1-1 and nearby responders while directly dialing 9-1-1. The vendor’s solution eliminated costly hardware installs, improved inter-school communication, provided incident analytics through Rave 911 Suite for after-action review, and produced faster, more coordinated notifications and response times—boosting staff confidence and reassuring parents.
