Rancho Santiago Community College District Switches to Rave Alert™ for Faster Notifications During Campus-Wide Disasters

Rancho Santiago Community College District faced slow, desktop-bound emergency notifications that required many clicks, experienced message throttling, and couldn’t reliably reach a dispersed campus population of about 40,000 students, staff, contractors and visitors. Seeking a mobile, easy-to-use system for faster alerts during events like earthquakes and wildfires, RSCCD evaluated vendors and selected Rave Mobile Safety’s Rave Alert™ to improve speed, reach and reliability.

Rave Mobile Safety implemented Rave Alert™ in early 2017 with quick onboarding (the initial setup was completed in about an hour) and support for 40,000 contacts plus an SMS Opt‑In feature for contractors and parents. During the Canyon 2 Fire the district used Rave Alert™ from cell phones to send multiple rapid notifications (10 text/email messages totaling ~32,700 deliveries), enabling timely evacuations, clearer road-closure communications, reduced panic, and ongoing use for outages and leaks — demonstrating measurable improvements in notification speed and community reach.
