Medical University of South Carolina Informs 23,400 Community Members with Crisis Communications Through Rave AlertTM During Hurricane Florence

The Medical University of South Carolina faced the imminent threat of Hurricane Florence in September 2018 and needed a reliable way to rapidly reach a diverse campus community—students, faculty, hospital staff and contractors—with timely crisis and logistical updates while avoiding message fatigue. To meet that challenge they used Rave Mobile Safety’s Rave Alert mass notification system to cut through the clutter and coordinate enterprise and segmented communications.

Using Rave Alert, MUSC’s crisis team sent 29 email and text messages from Sept. 9–16, 2018 to 23,400 community members, totaling 678,600 individual message deliveries with links to NHC/FEMA, transportation and on-site logistics; the platform’s ease of use and segmentation enabled fast approvals and targeted updates. Rave Mobile Safety’s solution delivered measurable, reliable reach during the storm, helping MUSC maintain operational continuity and improve its crisis communications process.
