Iowa Homeland Security & Emergency Management - Customer Case Study

Iowa Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEMD) needed a more robust, easy-to-use statewide notification system to protect and notify 99 counties and roughly 3.2 million residents. The agency sought 24/7 support, multiple sign-up options, and multilingual delivery so diverse populations and local partners could reliably receive emergency communications. HSEMD selected Rave Mobile Safety and its Rave Alert mass notification platform to meet those requirements.

Rave Mobile Safety implemented Rave Alert (integrated with Smart911) to deliver simultaneous, multi-channel messages — text, email, voice, social, IPAWS, digital signage and desktop alerts — with automatic translation into about 60 languages and SMS keyword opt-in. The vendor’s geo-redundant infrastructure and NWS-tied weather alerts enable targeted, map-based messaging; about 20 state agencies are onboard and counties are scheduled to fully transition by July 1, extending reach across all 99 counties and improving sign-ups, targeted warnings, and timely response statewide.
