Eaton County Public School Uses Rave Panic Button to Rapidly Respond to Weapon on Campus

Eaton County, Michigan faced a critical incident when a student was spotted leaving campus and a classmate reported a weapon in his backpack. The school’s principal was away from the PA system and needed a way to immediately alert 9-1-1 and staff. Eaton County schools were using Rave Mobile Safety’s Rave Panic Button app to enable rapid, discreet emergency notifications and direct calls to emergency services.

Using Rave Mobile Safety’s Rave Panic Button, the principal hit the police button to contact 9-1-1, used Staff Assist to quietly coordinate teachers into lockdown, and leveraged Quicksend and shared information with dispatchers (floor plans, suspect description, last-seen direction). The result: the student was reported to police and a school-wide lockdown was initiated in under three minutes, the suspect was found and disarmed, and 9-1-1 call volume from parents/staff remained low, enabling a faster, more coordinated response.
